RT201, Basic Cyber Investigations Course (BCIC)

Who should attend: This training should be attended by Defense Criminal Investigative Organizations and counterintelligence investigators who work in the computer crime field.

Course Description:
Presents the requirements for conducting a cyber crime investigation through lecture, practical exercises, scenarios and case studies. Students will learn the processes, techniques, specialized documentation, and legal guidelines necessary to investigate a computer crime.

Objectives:

  • Define cyber crimes
  • Define the role of a cyber investigator
  • Explain evidentiary requirements unique to technology investigations
  • Discuss the different legal documentation and procedures
  • Explain the need for interagency cooperation at all levels of government
  • Produce a comprehensive investigative plan
