Remote Access: Initial Set-up
Remote Setup of PC/Laptop with CAC Reader:
 
  • Step 1: Obtain a CAC Reader from Information Technology and Install CAC Reader Driver
  • Step 2: Install DoD Certificates
  • Step 3: Install ActivClient
  • Step 4: How to use your CAC

Step 1: Obtain a CAC Reader and Install Driver

CAC Reader Options:
  • SCR-3310v2 
  • SCR-331                                                

Plug in your CAC Reader
NOTE:  Most of the time, the New Hardware Wizard will install the CAC reader automatically, negating the need for you to install the driver manually.

(Horizon) Remote Access

Initial Horizon Installation/Set-up Instructions:

Requirements:

  1. A Valid CAC with valid Email Certificate
  2. A CAC Reader (contact the DC3 Service Desk)
  3. A CAC Compatible Web browser: (Internet Explorer 10 or 11), Edge or Google Chrome
 

Access from a personal Windows Computer

Initial Horizon Set-up/Log-in Instructions:
  • After you install the client on your home system it will ask for a reboot. 
  • After the reboot, double-click on the VMware horizon client on your desktop.
  • Within the Horizon client (on the right side) click the three bars and select configure SSL.
    • In the SSL Configuration menu:
    • Select Warn before connection to untrusted servers and check the Allow connection via an SSL proxy.
    • Click ok.
  • Click on the new server menu at the top.
    • Enter: https://silverhawk.dc3.mil
    • Click connect
      Note: You will need to have the DOD certs installed on your home system for it to connect.
  • Click Accept on the warning banner.
  • Select your PIV Certificate and select ok. 
  • Enter your pin and click login.
  • Double-click the DC3 Instant Clone. 
    Note: There might be other desktops listed. These are special use desktops. Users will know when to use them, don’t select these desktops if you aren’t given the ok to use them.
  •  You should now be connected to your DEN desktop.

Note: Before you can access DC3 Remote Access Portal, you must perform the required DoD CA certificates and VMware Horizon Client (Horizon 8) software installations. This is a one time installation.

(Horizon) Remote Access: Return User Log-In


Horizon Return User Log-in Instructions:
  1. Double-click on the VMware Horizon client on your desktop.
  2. Double-click on the silverhawk.dc3.mil server icon.
  3. Click Accept on the Disclaimer Window.
  4. Enter your pin and click Login.
  5. Double click the DC3 Instant Clone icon. 
  6. Click Ok on the Warning Statement
  7. DC3 Login Screen will display. Click “Sign-In Options”, then select "chip icon" to Login with your CAC.
  8. The PIN prompt screen may display. Enter your "PIN" and then Click "OK".
  9. Wait for your profile to load. You can start using the Desktop after you have successfully logged on. The experience will be similar to sitting at your desk in the office.
  10. You may be prompted for a CAC Certificate. Select your "PIV Certificate", and then click "OK".

Note:
There might be other desktops listed. These are special use desktops. Users will know when to use them, don’t select these desktops if you aren’t given the ok to use them.

 
(Alternate) Remote Access

Initial CITRIX Installation/Set-up Instructions:


Requirements:

  1. A Valid CAC with valid Email Certificate
  2. A CAC Reader (contact the DC3 Service Desk)
  3. A CAC Compatible Web browser: (Internet Explorer 10 or 11), Edge or Google Chrome
 

Access from a personal Windows Computer 

  1. Installation of HomeUser Cert Tool_V04 
  2. FBCA cross-certificate removal tool 
  3. Citrix Workspace App (Citrix Receiver)

Note: Before you can access DC3 Remote Access Portal, you must perform the required DoD CA certificates and Citrix Web Receiver software installations. This is a one time installation.
 

(Alternate) Remote Access: Return User Log-In


Citrix Return User Log-in Instructions:
  1. Click DC3 Remote Access - DEN (Use Chrome, Edge or Internet Explorer to connect). 
  2. You may be prompted for a CAC Certificate. Select your "PIV Certificate", and then click "OK".
  3. (For Edge users, if no Email Certificate is present on the "Select a certificate window", please select “More choices” and the remaining certificates should appear on the screen.)
  4. The PIN prompt screen will display. Enter your "PIN" and then Click "OK".
  5. The DOD Warning Statement will display. "Read and accept" the DOD Warning statement.
  6. To access a Desktop, click on “DC3 Desktops” icon.
  7. You may be prompted for a CAC Certificate. Select your "PIV Certificate", and then click "OK".
  8. The DOD Warning Statement will display. "Read and accept" the DOD Warning statement.
  9. DC3 Login Screen will display. Click “Sign-In Options”, then select "chip icon" to Login with your CAC.
  10. The PIN prompt screen will display. Enter your "PIN" and then Click "OK".
  11. Wait for your profile to load. You can start using the Desktop after you have successfully logged on.
